Noisy Fisher & Paykel Dryer Repair in Armidale

A noisy clothes dryer is often a sign that something inside the appliance is wearing out. We recently attended a call-out in Armidale to repair a Fisher & Paykel dryer that had developed a loud noise while drying.

Finding the Cause of the Dryer Noise

After inspecting and testing the dryer, the main problem was traced to worn bearings in the fan assembly.

The worn bearings were allowing the fan to wobble as it rotated. Instead of running smoothly, the fan was moving enough to scrape against its casing, producing a loud and noticeable noise whenever the dryer was operating.

Continuing to operate a dryer with a fan in this condition can lead to further wear, so replacing the faulty component was the best solution.

Replacing the Fisher & Paykel Dryer Fan

A new fan assembly was fitted and the dryer was tested again. With the replacement fan running correctly, the wobble and scraping noise were eliminated.

The repair also addressed another common source of dryer noise: the drum belt.

Some dryer belts can produce a squeaking or squealing sound as the drum turns. This Fisher & Paykel dryer had developed this issue as well. Belt dressing was carefully applied to the belt, which significantly reduced the squeaking and helped the dryer operate much more quietly.
