Miele Washing Machines: Water in Base Issue

23rd September 2025

We recently carried out a repair on a Miele washing machine in Armidale that was triggering an error due to water collecting in the base of the machine. This type of fault can lead to system shutdowns and ongoing issues if left unresolved.

After inspecting the appliance, we initially traced the leak to a component known as the water path – a part we’ve seen associated with leaks in similar Miele models. However, on closer investigation, the real source of the problem was found to be a rubber seal located underneath the water path. This seal had failed, allowing water to escape and pool in the base of the machine.

When diagnosing leaks like this, it’s essential to test the machine under proper water pressure – ideally, conditions that match typical household usage. If the pressure is too low during testing, the leak may not appear, and the fault can be missed. High-pressure testing is a standard and necessary practice for accurately identifying hidden or intermittent leaks in modern washing machines.
