Miele Washing Machine Wobbling During the Spin Cycle in Armidale
A washing machine that starts wobbling, shaking or moving excessively during a high-speed spin cycle can be concerning. We recently attended a Miele washing machine repair in Armidale with exactly this problem.
The machine was operating normally at lower speeds, but as the spin speed increased, it began to wobble considerably. While there can be several possible causes for this behaviour, one of the first things to check is whether the washing machine is sitting correctly and securely on the floor.
Why Washing Machine Levelling Is So Important
For a front-loading washing machine to spin smoothly, all four feet need to be firmly in contact with the floor.
Even a small amount of movement can become much more noticeable once the drum reaches a high spin speed. A useful initial check is to gently test the machine diagonally from opposite corners while it is switched off. If there is any rocking or movement, the feet may require adjustment.
Importantly, simply making the washing machine look level isn't always enough. Each foot needs to make firm contact with the floor, and once correctly adjusted, the feet should be properly locked into position.
What Was Causing This Miele Washing Machine to Wobble?
On this particular Miele washing machine in Armidale, the problem came back to the adjustment of the feet.
Once all four feet were correctly adjusted so they were firmly contacting the floor, and then locked into position, the improvement was clear. The washing machine was once again able to reach high spin speeds smoothly without the excessive wobbling it had experienced before.
Other Causes of a Washing Machine Shaking or Wobbling
Incorrect levelling isn't the only possible cause. Depending on the appliance and symptoms, excessive movement during spinning can also be related to the load inside the drum, flooring, worn or damaged components, or other faults requiring further diagnosis.
On some machines, software can also contribute to unusual operating behaviour. Where applicable, checking the appliance software and carrying out an appropriate software update can form part of the diagnostic and servicing process.

If your Miele washing machine is shaking, wobbling, making unusual noises or experiencing problems during the spin cycle, having the appliance properly inspected can help identify the cause rather than simply replacing parts unnecessarily.
A washing machine that wobbles at high speed doesn't always have a major mechanical problem. As this recent Armidale repair demonstrated, sometimes getting the fundamentals right, including firm contact with the floor at all four feet, is all that is needed to restore a smooth, stable spin.
