Miele Extraction Fan Repaired - Hidden Fault Fixed | John Crawford Electrical
Recently, we repaired a Miele extraction fan that had both the fan and lights completely unresponsive. The issue turned out to be a hidden fault within the unit's controls.
The Problem
A missing cap on the microswitch was the culprit. It was located behind the cover, out of sight. Without the cap, the microswitch was inadvertently stuck in "tamperproof cut-out" mode, which prevented power from reaching the controls.
The Solution
After carefully dismantling the controls, we identified the issue and fitted a replacement cap onto the microswitch. This allowed the microswitch to be depressed when reinstalled, cancelling the tamperproof cut-out mechanism. With power restored to the controls, the fan and lights became fully operational again.
