Miele Cooktop Repair After Storm Damage

29th September 2025

When a customer in Armidale experienced issues with their Miele induction cooktop following a recent electrical storm, they contacted us for a professional assessment. The appliance was showing an E31 error, indicating a power supply fault.

After a detailed inspection, we identified a short circuit within the power printed circuit board (PCB) - specifically, a fault with the transistors. With this diagnosis confirmed, we sourced and installed a genuine replacement power board. Once fitted, the cooktop returned to full functionality.

This Miele unit was over 20 years old, but Miele’s long-standing commitment to supporting older models meant the spare part was still available. In many cases, especially with high-quality appliances like Miele, repairing rather than replacing makes sound financial sense. A new induction cooktop of this quality can be a significant investment, so resolving the issue with a new board proved both cost-effective and efficient for the customer.

Why This Matters:

  • Local expertise: With over 30 years of experience, we handle complex appliance faults, including storm-related electrical damage.
  • Authorised Miele repairs: As an authorised repairer, we have access to genuine Miele parts and repair procedures.
  • Cost-effective service: When premium appliances fail, repairs often save our customers hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars.
  • Longevity of Miele products: This project highlights why Miele is a trusted brand: spare parts availability and durable design.
