A Kleenmaid dryer, manufactured by Speed Queen, recently required attention in Armidale after developing a burning smell, overheating and eventually stopping the rotation of the dryer drum.

The motor bearings had also become stiff. Lubricant was carefully applied to the bearings until the motor was able to rotate freely again.

Attention was also given to the dryer drum belt. Belt conditioner was applied to help reduce operating noise and assist in prolonging the service life of the belt.

The heater element and surrounding area were thoroughly cleaned to remove the lint that had accumulated and contributed to the overheating and burning smell.

Kleenmaid Speed Queen Dryer Returned to Operation

Once the cleaning, lubrication and servicing work had been completed, the dryer was carefully reassembled and tested.

The drum rotated correctly again and the dryer returned to normal operation.
