Bosch Dishwasher Repair: Sump Leak, Drain Pump and Inlet Hose Faults

This Bosch dishwasher had several separate issues affecting its operation. The fault code indicated that water had collected in the base of the machine, but further testing was needed to find where the water was coming from and identify the other faults.
Water leaking from the dishwasher sump
Inspection found evidence of a leaking sump. The sump is located beneath the dishwasher tub and helps direct water through the wash and drainage systems.
The sump was sealed using a special heat-resistant silicone suitable for this application. Once the seal was completed, the excess silicone was removed to leave the area clean and properly finished.
Intermittent drain pump operation
The dishwasher's drain pump was also operating intermittently. Debris had built up around the pump area and the pump itself was failing.
Because the drain pump removes used water from the dishwasher, intermittent operation can prevent the machine from draining reliably or completing its normal cycle. The faulty pump was replaced.
Inlet hose valve not operating reliably
A further fault was found in the dishwasher's inlet hose. Power was reaching the hose valve, but the valve was not operating every time. This meant the dishwasher was not always allowing water into the machine when required.
The inlet hose assembly was replaced to address the unreliable valve operation.
Testing after the repairs
After the sump was sealed and the drain pump and inlet hose were replaced, the Bosch dishwasher was tested and operating well again.
This job is a useful example of why accurate dishwasher fault finding matters. A fault code can point towards a particular condition, such as water in the base, but it does not always identify the source of the leak or reveal other problems affecting the appliance.
